KATA is holding their annual convention and seminar at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel in Louisville on September 6-8, 2006. The convention offers up to 13.25 CLE Hours, including 1 hour ethics. You can view and download a copy of the brochure and you can register online. The featured speaker is David Ball, President of JuryWatch, Inc. Mr. Ball is a nationally known trial consultant, communications expert, and trial advocacy author. I had the opportunity to attend Mr. Ball’s Theater Tips and Strategies for Jury Trials when he presented it at the KBA convention in Louisville. This is a must must see for trial attorneys and one of the better, if not best, programs on trial techniques I have ever attended.

The Kentucky Defense Counsel is hosting a CLE ethics program title “Ethical Issues of the Defense Lawyer” on August 31, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency Louisville. The price is $30 for members and $45 for nonmembers. The program runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. beginning with lunch. The speaker is Matt Breetz of Stites and Harbison. Space is limited to 40 people so register early. For more information or to receive a registration form, please contact Kathi McKeown.

The KDC annual seminar will be held at the Marriot Griffin Resort in Lexington beginning October 20th. Speakers are Jim McElhaney, Grace Giesel and Bill Cloyd. Brochures for the seminar will be mailed at the end of August. Again, you can contact Kathi McKeown with any questions.
